Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-based approach that focuses on building awareness and acceptance of your internal experiences while engaging in actions that support your values.

Somatic Experiencing

The Somatic Experiencing® method is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other stress disorders. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, together with over 45 years of successful clinical application. The SE™ approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.

Therapy is a dynamic process that provides you a supportive environment while you explore your experiences.  Therapy helps support you in noticing your thoughts and feelings and exploring ongoing actions that can support you in living your life the way you desire.  

Therapy can be challenging and can, at times, bring up difficult emotions and experiences.  However, therapy is also often very rewarding.  It’s important to remember that therapy is an incremental process and that your therapist is there to guide you on that journey.

Sessions generally occur one time per week. However, there are times when it may be appropriate to have sessions more or less often. 

Yes. We are held to a high standard of confidentiality and privacy through HIPAA and our ethical codes.  There are some exceptions to confidentiality/privacy, including maintaining safety, suspected abuse, legal proceedings, and to obtain payment, including from insurance companies. 

It is important to remember that most insurance companies require a diagnosis for treatment.  Also, by using your insurance company, you consent to some disclosures. Usually, these are limited to diagnosis and basic treatment information; however insurance companies do have a right to audit files, including progress notes and treatment plans.

Our fees are $200 for a 53-minute intake session and $160 for 53-minute individual sessions. If you are paying out of pocket or are choosing not to use your insurance, you have a right to request a “Good Faith Estimate.”

Yes.  We are currently accepting the following insurance:

BCBS, Montana Health Co-op, Aetna, Pacific Sources, Cigna, United, and Allegiance.

You are responsible for all costs that your insurance company does not cover.  Because of this, it is essential to understand your benefits for outpatient therapy.  You can get this information by calling your insurance company.

The therapeutic relationship is vital to the process.  Because of that, we believe finding the right therapist for you and your needs is essential.  This is why I provide a 15-minute phone call before scheduling. 

During this phone call, you can get any questions you have about the process answered, and we will give you additional information about how we practice and what therapy will look like with us.

You must feel comfortable with your therapist and believe they can support you in the way you need on your journey.
